Correlation between Communication Skills, Mental Health, and Active Leisure / Social Activities in a Selected Group of Male Volleyball Players

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to correlate between communication skills, mental health and active leisure / social activities in a selected group of volleyball players. The research method is descriptive-correlational and the data collection was field and applied in terms of results. The statistical population of the study consisted of male players in the Premier League and the first division of the country based on the statistics of 400 people in these leagues, 196 of whom were selected by simple random sampling.Data were collected using the Burton-Jai Communication Skills Questionnaire (2006), the Goldberg and Hiller Mental Health Questionnaire (1998), and a researcher-made Leisure / Social Activity Questionnaire. Face and content validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by sport management professors and Cronbach's alpha equal to 0.736 for communication skills questionnaire, 0.808 for mental health questionnaire, and 0.815 for active leisure / social activities, respectively. It had research toolsAccording to the research results, there is a relationship between communication skills with mental health and leisure time of volleyball players, also communication skills can predict mental health and leisure time, and mental health can predict active volleyball players' leisure time.
