Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the acute effect of a static vs. dynamic stretching warming up on the leg muscles of Kotebe Metropolitan university football players, Ethiopia. In this study, 34 kotebe metropolitan university football players have participated voluntarily. Kotebe Metropolitan University's football team was participated World Universities' Football Game which has been held from 18 November to 02 December 2019 in Xiamen, China. These players were selected based on their participation in football sport. In a random manner, two members were taken as one group from the total population. From every one of two groups, one subject has been performing the static stretching and the other player has been performing dynamic stretching as a warm-up workout. A paired t-test has been used to compare a static and dynamic group to recognize leg muscles, which was set at 0.05 alpha. As a result of the paired sample test, the p-value is less than 0.05 which is p=.003, these two groups had a significant difference between their means. Fundamentally, players scored different vertical jump performance after the two stretching warmings up workouts. In conclusion, dynamic stretching had a positive impact on leg muscles to perform power exercises like a vertical jump. Besides, dynamic stretching profoundly contributed to leg muscle effectiveness compared to static stretching.
