The purpose of this study was to clarify anthropometric profile and physical fitness characteristics in the difference of position of Japanese female high-school volleyball players. The participants were 23 high school female volleyball players. As physical characteristics, height, weight, BMI, body fat percentage, and muscle mass were measured. In addition, flexibility, muscle strength, instantaneous power, and agility were evaluated as fitness characteristics. Each variable was compared between positions. The results showed that there were significant differences in anthropometric profile in terms of the height and physical fitness in terms of the range of motion of dorsiflexion of the ankle joint of the non-dominant leg, but no significant differences were found in the other characteristics. The results of this study suggest that the characteristics of each position may not be known until the level of top athletes, and at the same time, there is a difference in the range of motion of the ankle joint between side attackers and middle blockers due to their different roles even though they are the same attackers at the level of high school students.
